Man Fatally Shot During Intermediate School Graduation In East Los Angeles

A 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff's homicide Lt. Omar Camacho.

EAST LOS ANGELES, CA — A 30-year-old man who was shot and killed in East Los Angeles was identified by county authorities Saturday.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to the 500 block of Bradshawe Avenue, near the border with Montebello, at around 12:30 p.m. Thursday regarding a shooting, authorities said. When they arrived at the scene, deputies found the victim, identified as Joshua Ledesma by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, lying in a driveway, NBC 4 reported.

Ledesma was pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff's homicide Lt. Omar Camacho.

The shooting occurred during the graduation of nearby Eastmont Intermediate School in Montebello.

Mike Rodriguez, who lives in the neighborhood, said he heard gunshots and initially thought they were fireworks.

"The bad thing is the kids were getting out of school at the time, so it got kind of hectic around here," Rodriguez told NBC4.

There was no suspect description.
