Man Killed In Shooting Near MacArthur Park ID'd

The coroner Monday released the name of a man killed in a shooting across the street from MacArthur Park.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The coroner Monday released the name of a man killed in a shooting across the street from MacArthur Park.

Jose Gallegos, 68, was a Los Angeles resident.

The shooting took place around 12:50 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim now identified as Gallegos was shot in the chest and died at the scene, LAPD Sgt.Kevin Gruner said. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Another victim was shot in the arm and taken to a hospital.

The motive for the shootings was not known.
