Man Shot By LAPD 77th Division Officers In Chesterfield Square
The LAPD's Force Investigation Division was investigating the shooting.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A man who allegedly pointed a gun at a passerby and police was critically wounded in a shooting the Chesterfield Square section of L.A. by a Los Angeles police officer.
The drama that led to the shooting took place in the area of 54th Street and Manhattan Place around 12:55 p.m. Sunday, according to the LAPD.
The man later identified as Jose Robles allegedly first pointed his gun at an unidentified person, which sparked an assault with a deadly weapon call.

Officers responding to a different call spotted Robles walking down the street, allegedly holding a gun, the LAPD reported.
The officers attempted to stop Robles and ordered him to drop his gun, the LAPD reported.

Robles allegedly refused to drop his gun and was shot by the officers. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and officers later found that the gun he was holding was a BB gun.
