🦃 Thanksgiving Poll!
Thanksgiving is on November 24th. We asked, how do you celebrate? You responded. 44.7% of you celebrate a big meal as a family tradition, while 30.6% don’t celebrate and treat it like any other day. In a smaller group, 1.2% don’t celebrate because they feel it glorifies the conquest of Native Americans; however, 23.5% choose to celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving out of gratitude. Thank you for participating!

📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

1) A man was robbed and shot with “a blue semiautomatic handgun” at an apartment building “on the 2800 block of Sunset Place in the Westlake District.” Two suspects approached him on Friday afternoon around 4:20 p.m. and stole his Rolex watch and some gold chains. “Chief Michel Moore has said that anyone carrying expensive items on their person or driving a high-end vehicle could be targeted.” (KTLA)

2) There was a mobile home fire at a homeless encampment on Haskell and Sherman Way on Friday. Some vegetation burned, too. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was on the scene quickly and prevented a spread of the flames. So far, there are no reports of injuries. (Street People of Los Angeles)

3) Did P-22 kill a leashed dog on Friday? The 12-year-old big cat, which is known to roam in the area around Griffith Park, Silver Lake, and Hollywood, stands accused of pouncing on a Chihuahua that was being walked “in the early evening hours.” “He didn’t growl at all. I didn’t even hear him. I never had a chance,” the man walking the little dog said. The dog’s owner understands that the mountain lion did what these cats do; however, he wants “want people to be safe out there so that nothing like this happens again.” (Yahoo! News)

4) In a case of instant Karma, three people were rescued Saturday morning by first responders with the Jaws of Life. The three were suspects in a catalytic converter theft near Main Street and West Imperial Highway and tried to outrun the police. A passenger was arrested, the driver will be arrested, and another passenger was released. (KTLA)

5) The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) spent a Wednesday afternoon transforming a street in Watts into a car-free play place. It is part of the agency’s LA Play Streets program. Community organizations and LADOT collaborate to develop a temporary recreational space in neighborhoods across the City. The kids loved it! (YouTube)
