Massive Illegal Fireworks Display In Downtown LA Under Investigation
The unexpected late-night explosions illicited confusion and frustration from community members and an invesigation from police.

LOS ANGELES — A massive illegal fireworks show Sunday night in Downtown Los Angeles illicited confusion and frustration from community members and an invesigation from authorities.
Police posted on social media Monday morning that they had found the location where the fireworks were lit, that the site was across the street from a federal facility, and that Sunday's explosive event was planned and deliberate.
People took to social media to share videos of the disruptive display, saying the fireworks went off for several minutes around 10:45 p.m.

"Not literally three straight minutes of fireworks going off in DTLA all at once," X user Derek wrote alongside video of the fireworks exploding behind the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. "I was coolin’ on the roof and then heard explosions going off. I literally thought it was a wrap."
X users Daryl Nash and Rich Windisch also posted videos of the dramatic display.

Anyone with surveillance video from the area is asked to contact police.
