Mel Tilerkeratne Works 'Tirelessly' To Help LA's Unsheltered

Los Angeles, CA — Without community leaders, Los Angeles wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

He founded the Shower of Hope, Hope Housing for Students, Hope Safe Parking and is a community activist

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

He has tirelessly worked to improve the lives of unsheltered citizens in LA. He started with one shower truck and now there are 22. There are now shower programs every day of the year in many locations across LA County. These events offer showers, case-working, clothing, and other necessities. He opened residential programs for college students facing homelessness. The Safe Parking programs offer those living in their cars a safe place to spend the night with meals and restroom facilities,

This man has inspired so many to give back to the community.
