📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:
1) Little Pine at 2870 Rowena Avenue has closed. We learned on Monday that Moby’s vegan eatery closed its doors after seven years. “It’s a surprising end for what was once one of Los Angeles’s most talked-about plant-based restaurants.” (L.A. Eater)
2) The Palms Motel at 8480 South Figueroa Street is no more. Known as "a seedy motel," it was “between the elementary and middle school campuses of the KIPP Academy Charter School.” As reported on Monday, the charter school company paid $4.5 million to buy the property and demolish it. "A place that has been a part of our tragedy and trauma becomes new territory," said Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson.” (CBS)
3) Outgoing Mayor Eric Garcetti and Councilman Mike Bonin were on hand to celebrate a new pedestrian light and crosswalk at the intersection of Centinela and Greene Street. Hosted by the Heart of Del Rey Group, the ceremony took place Friday at 9 a.m. After cutting the ribbon and lauding the upgrade, the intersection was opened for foot traffic. (Streets LA)
4) Did you miss the U.S. Postal service’s seasonal job fair on Tuesday? Don’t fret; you get another chance on December 13 at the 7001 South Central Avenue main office. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other L.A. job fairs for the post office occur on December 15 at 11270 Exposition Boulevard and on December 20 back at the main office. The post office is “looking to hire an additional 20,000 seasonal employees.” (CBS)
5) Would you like to rent the Addams family's Cadillac custom hearse for a day? (We’re talking about the one you would have seen had you binged the Netflix show “Wednesday.”) Turo is a car-sharing company that makes it possible. You can rent it for $13 a day until December 19. Before you make your reservation, be sure you know how to drive a manual transmission! (KTLA)
