​Mother Accused Of Drowning Daughter In Bathtub In Van Nuys: Police

VAN NUYS, CA — Police Saturday are continuing their investigation of a 38-year-old woman who allegedly drowned her 7-year-old daughter in a bathtub in Van Nuys.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to an apartment building at 6841 Sepulveda Blvd., between Basset and Vanowen streets, at 5:40 p.m. Friday, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

KTLA5 reported the girl lived at the apartment with a man and a woman.

According to KTLA, the man reportedly found the girl's lifeless body when he arrived home and began screaming for help.

The woman -- who police said is the girl's mother -- was arrested at the scene.

The LAPD's Valley Bureau Homicide Division is handling the case, NBC4 reported.
