Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:
- Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a slew of law enforcement bills on Thursday, aimed at holding officers accountable for misconduct. The new regulations raise the minimum age of police officers from 18 to 21, and further restrict the use of pepper spray and rubber bullets by the police. (Norman Transcript)
- The Governor also plans to sign legislation that would allow Los Angeles County to return property to the descendants of previously Black-owned land. In some cases, Black-owned property was seized under imminent domain by the City Council in the mid-20th Century. (Los Angeles Patch)
