County health officials cautioned residents from being in the ocean, as bacteria levels exceeded state safety standards.

LOS ANGELES, CA — County health officials cautioned residents of Los Angeles County from being in the ocean, as bacteria levels exceeded state safety standards at multiple beaches.
The Los Angeles County Public Health Department collects samples weekly from various sites year-round to test and monitor bacteria levels. On Friday, the division found the ocean water at many beaches exceeded state standards for bacterial levels.

- the public restrooms at Arroyo Sequit Creek at Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu
- the Marie Canyon Storm Drain at Puerco Beach in Malibu
- the public restrooms at Malibu Lagoon at Surfrider Beach in Malibu
- the Santa Monica Creek at Will Rogers State Beach
- the Santa Monica Pier
- the entire swim area at Mothers Beach in Marina del Rey
- the World Way Extension at Dockweiler State Beach
- the 28th Street extension in Manhattan Beach
- the Redondo Beach Pier
- the entire swim area at Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro
The Department of Public Health discourages swimming in the water at the beach because it may cause illness.
The public may see warning signs displayed at the beach. To view a list of the locations visit the Public Health Department’s website. The list will be updated when conditions change and the water is found to be safe to swim, surf and play in again.
