New Year’s Resolutions Poll! 🎶
According to Forbes, only 8% of people making New Year’s resolutions actually achieve them. Even so, the experts suggest making resolutions because they encourage intentionality, optimism, and a positive effect on others. So, what are your resolutions for 2023?

Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

1) P-22 update: Chihuahuas in the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Park can breathe a sigh of relief. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), along with the National Park Service (NPS), captured the big cat on Monday in the backyard of a home south of Griffith Park. At this time, P-22 is at “a wild animal care facility for a full health evaluation.” What comes next? “CDFW veterinarians and NPS biologists will determine the best next steps for the animal while also prioritizing the safety of the surrounding communities.” Scuttlebutt on KFI radio suggests that the mountain lion has mange, may have been injured, is underweight, and there's talk of euthanasia. (CDFW)

2) Were you a victim of the 2017 scam perpetrated by “Top Tier Solutions, a T-Mobile franchise store in the Eagle Rock Plaza?” In August, a jury convicted one of the owners. The other one pleaded guilty. On Monday, a judge ordered one of the defendants “to pay $28.5 million in restitution.” You may remember that the store’s co-owners used “stolen employee credentials to illegally unlock T-Mobile cell phones.” (The Eastsider LA)

3) Spain’s Queen Letizia visited 3375 Barham Boulevard on Tuesday, where she “celebrated the opening of a center that promotes the Spanish language and culture throughout the world.” The inauguration of the Cervantes Institute drew celebs such as actress Maria Valverde and her husband, the famed conductor Gustavo Dudamel. It's noteworthy that the Spanish government founded the institute to promote an appreciation of Hispanic culture and language. (Sports Finding, Cervantes Institute)

4) Who are the five Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) members whom Chief Kristin Crowley honored on December 6 during Valor 22? They are Mario Rodriguez (Medal of Valor), Michael Jones (Medal of Merit), and Michael Fortini, Dajon Johnson, and Tanner Keeler, who received Letters of Special Commendation. Congratulations! (Support LAFD)

5) You don’t have to fight for your right to visit the Beastie Boys exhibition at the Beyond the Streets and Control Gallery, at 434 North La Brea Avenue. You have the opportunity to be a guest “on the 40-year journey up the road of the Beastie Boys’ legacy.” The exhibit opened Friday night, but you have until January 23 to visit. Did I mention that it’s free? (MXDWN)
