Police Officer Shoots, Kills Dog In Pasadena While Responding To Medical Call

A police officer fatally shot a dog while responding to a medical call in Pasadena Tuesday night, police said.

PASADENA, CA — A police officer shot and killed a dog in Pasadena while responding to a woman who needed medical help, authorities said Wednesday.

The Pasadena police and fire departments, along with Pasadena Humane officers, were dispatched to the 400 block of South Hudson Avenue just after 9 a.m. Tuesday after a passerby reported a woman lying incoherent on the ground near an unleashed dog, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

The 31-year-old Glendale woman was lying face up, speaking incoherently and making gurgling noises, Pasadena Now reported.

When one of the responding officers arrived at the scene, the dog charged at him, prompting the officer to shoot the animal, police said.

The shooting took place before animal control personnel reached the scene.

No people were injured in the shooting, authorities added, and the woman was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation.
