📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

  1. The Central Community Police Station at 251 East 6th Street evacuated on Wednesday morning right around 7:40 a.m. An employee “was hospitalized after opening an envelope containing an unknown substance.” There’s no word yet what was in the envelope or how the hospitalized employee is doing. (Patch)
  2. A man was “wedged beneath (a) subway station platform at (the) Hollywood/Western Metro Station” on Wednesday morning. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to the scene and said there’s a possibility the man was struck by a train on the B (Red) line. First responders succeeded in safely extricating the individual. His medical condition “and the circumstances of his being at track level have yet to be determined.” (LAFD)
  3. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) booked a 24-year-old man on Friday “for felony hit-and-run.” He is thought to have been “the driver seen fleeing the scene after a stolen 2006 Saturn Ion collided with a 1998 Toyota truck” near Glendale Boulevard and Scott Avenue. The Toyota’s occupants had minor injuries. “The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office decided to charge the hit-and-run as a misdemeanor, though they added a felony charge of driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent.” (KTLA)
  4. What was happening in front of the Getty House at 605 South Irving Boulevard on Tuesday evening? Numerous Armenian American protesters brought in a semi truck and spent time at the site to raise awareness of a “blockade that is cutting off a vital road linking Armenia to the separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh.” The truck held a sign that read, “Airlift Now!” You may recall that the Getty House is Karen Bass’ official mayoral residence. (ABC)
  5. Zoom Room Agility Dog Training at 6200 Variel Avenue will celebrate its grand opening on January 7 at 4 p.m.! There’ll be a FREE party with games, a pet photographer, caricature artist, giveaways and more. And yes, of course your dog is welcome! (Zoom Room)
