📰 Here are the top five stories in Los Angeles today:

1) We learned on Friday that Riverside Drive is becoming a safer ride for bicyclists. Mitch O’Farrell reported that LADOT is bringing “protected bike lanes to Riverside Drive” and calming traffic with "four new speed tables along Riverside - two at Birkdale Street and two at Elmgrove Street." (Mitch O’Farrell)

2) There was a multi-vehicle crash at 2:30 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of 18th Street and Broadway. “The crash involved several cars and vehicles, including a Metro bus and a food truck.” The driver who was responsible for the crash apparently left the scene of the accident. (NBC)

3) Girls’ lacrosse is coming to Los Angeles! “The league will be providing all the equipment needed to play. Participants will be taught to play during clinics held during the first three weeks of the league season.” If you have a girl who wants to give it a try, sign up before leagues form in October! Parks where the games are played include Ted Watkins Park, Belvedere Park, City Terrace Park, Obregon Park, Salazar Park, and Saybrook Park. (L.A. Blade)

4) The Hollywood Sign will get a paint job starting Monday. The sign, which celebrates its 100th anniversary next year, requires 400 gallons of paint (High Reflective White SW 7757 in Emerald Exterior) that will come from Sherwin-Williams. “With each letter on the sign running 45 feet high and 31 to 39 feet across, a crew of 10 workers will prep, pressure wash, prime and paint the nine-letter display.” (Deadline)

5) Mark your calendars! The 76 annual East L.A. Mexican Independence Day Parade & Festival is Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. “The parade route will go from Cesar Chavez Boulevard to Gage Avenue.” The festival will run until 5 p.m. (KTLA)
