📰 Here are the top five stories today in Los Angeles:
1) There was a shooting death Monday morning “on Martha Street near Zelzah Avenue.” The Encino home was the site of a party just the day before. “Police believe at least two suspects are wanted for this shooting.” (CBS)
2) Are you using extension cords to charge a lithium-ion battery? The LAFD warns that a homeowner was doing just that at 10171 Larwin Avenue when a garage fire broke out. The blaze that lasted only 17 minutes on Friday caused about $90,000 in damage. (Flickr)
3) The iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be in town! If you have a soft spot for the conveyance, head to the “Los Angeles Breakfast Club on Wednesday, September 21” between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. (L.A. Breakfast Club)
4) What caused a palm tree fire on Saturday “on Highland Avenue near the 101 Freeway?” Reports came in right around 11 p.m., as the Hollywood Bowl audience enjoying a "Sound of Music" singalong was leaving. The fire was described as “somewhat stubborn.” (ABC)
5) Mark your calendars! Native Voices at the Autry and The Latino Theater Company are collaborating on “Desert Stories for Lost Girls.” Previews are on September 28 and 29 at The Los Angeles Theatre Center. (LA DT News)
