SigAlert: French Fries Flood 5 Freeway In Big Rig Crash

Commuters got fries with their morning rush hour, and it clogged major highway and arterial roads near Downtown Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The California Highway Patrol extended an hours-long SigAlert until after noon Thursday near Downtown Los Angeles, where an overturned semi-truck spilled french fries across the Golden State(5) Freeway.

All lanes of the southbound lanes of the 5 near the Stadium Way exit were closed Thursday following a crash just before 4 a.m. The closure backed up traffic for miles on the 5 and surrounding roadways.

The SigAlert is expected to last until about 12:15, according to the CHP.
