Skateboarder Critically Injured In Hit-And-Run Accident

An 18-year-old man riding a skateboard in South Los Angeles suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a vehicle.

LOS ANGELES, CA — An 18-year-old man riding a skateboard in South Los Angeles suffered critical injuries when he was struck by a vehicle driven by hit-and-run motorist, authorities said Saturday.

The vehicle was going west on Colden Avenue, from Figueroa Street, at about 6:10 p.m. Friday when it struck the skateboarder, who was also going west on Colden, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The impact caused the victim to be thrown off the skateboard and onto the roadway. The vehicle continued westbound on Colden Avenue, failing to stop.

Paramedics rushed the 18-year-old man to Harbor/UCLA Medical Center in Torrance.

LAPD South Traffic Division detectives urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 323-421-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222- 8477.
