USA Today asked a panel of experts to nominate 20 restaurants that opened in the past 18 months and readers voted to choose the top 10.
CALIFORNIA — One of the country’s 10 best new restaurants is in Southern California, according to USA Today.
The newspaper asked a panel of experts to nominate 20 restaurants that opened in the past 18 months, then readers voted to choose the top 10, with Tootles & French in New York City taking the No. 1 spot.
No. 6 on the list is Norikaya in Los Angeles.

The upscale Japanese restaurant serves traditional offerings with a modern presentation, according to the newspaper, which highlighted Norikaya's temaki, sashimi and seasonal tasting menus.
Also on the list were Northern California restaurants Z & Y Peking Duck in San Francisco at No. 9 and Smoke Door Lake Tahoe Saryo in Kings Beach at No. 4.
