🦃 Thanksgiving Poll!
Thanksgiving is on November 24th. How do you celebrate? So far, 46.8% celebrate a big meal as a family tradition, while 25.5% don’t celebrate and treat it like any other day. In a smaller group, 2.1% don’t celebrate because they feel it glorifies the conquest of Native Americans; however, 25.5% choose to celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving out of gratitude.

📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

1) Los Angeles City College went on lockdown and canceled evening classes on Monday. Around 2 p.m., authorities were alerted to a stabbing victim in the parking garage. The victim, who was not a student, died. The lockdown was lifted at 5:30 p.m. “The suspect was last seen running away from the garage in the area of Heliotrope and Melrose.” (ABC)

2) The Los Angeles River carried away a black sedan and a white minivan on Tuesday morning. Calls pinpointed a sighting to the area underneath the Washington Street Bridge at 7:45 a.m. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded; it was unknown at the time if anyone was in the cars when they were swept away. “After a thorough search from both air and ground, LAFD confirmed there are no victims in the water,” the LAFD said later. (KTLA)

3) If you’re planning a trip to Australia, we have some good news! United Airlines will once again fly from Los Angeles International Airport to Melbourne Tullamarine Airport. After the route went dormant in March 2020, it was revived on October 28. “United will operate the route four times weekly before going daily in December. The airline will use its Boeing 787-9 on the route.” (Simple Flying)

4) The Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP) announced on Monday that L.A. residents saved “six billion gallons of water from June to September.” The agency calculated the figure by comparing water usage in 2021 to the current year. If you still want to get in on the water-saving action, the LADWP offers a variety of rebates on appliances, free shower heads, and free landscaping workshops. (LADWP News)

5) Ululani’s, the famous shave ice company from Hawaii, now has a franchise in Los Feliz! However, the company didn’t open a storefront per se; instead, it opened “a diminutive 175- square-foot corner of Blue Rooster Art Supplies at 4661 1/2 Hollywood Boulevard” that is also run by the store’s owner. You can enjoy the treat from noon to 8 p.m. (L.A. Eater)
