🎄 The Worst Christmas Songs?
Christmas is around the corner. Songs of the season are everywhere. However, some tunes are better than others. Last year, Rolling Stone compiled a list of the worst Christmas songs of all time. Which song is the one that is the worst in your book? So far, we have:

  • NewSong, ‘The Christmas Shoes’ - 50%
  • Seth MacFarlane and Sara Bareilles, ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ - 25%
  • Band Aid, ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ - 25%

📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

1) Someone targeted a unit of a building in the 10000 block of South Avalon Boulevard, and a woman is dead as a result. We learned on Tuesday that police officers “have so far found up to 60 bullet casings in the parking lot area near the apartment.” While officers do not know if she was targeted, they do believe that an individual inside the unit “definitely was the target of someone.” According to officials, the “attack is not believed to be gang-related.” (KTLA)

2) What caused the police presence in the 6700 block of Belmar Avenue on Tuesday morning? Police officers tried to serve a warrant around 7 a.m., and a 33-year-old man turned the occasion into a standoff that lasted for several hours. Eventually, “he surrendered to authorities without incident, following a massive deployment of officers that included a SWAT team.” (ABC)

3) Metro says December 11 is the target date for restoring its transit services to pre-pandemic levels. You may remember that the agency reduced transit service by 20% during the pandemic. It then fell short of its promise to restore transit in July 2021, when a bus driver shortage occurred. Other setbacks followed, and right now, Metro operates “at about 96 percent of the pre-COVID levels.” Come December 12, there’ll be “increased weekday service on 55 Metro bus lines” and a connection with the K Line. (L.A. Streets Blog)

4) Last month, we talked about the shutdown of the Los Angeles Metro Purple Line Extension project over safety concerns. We learned on Tuesday that construction on the Purple Line is once again happening. The contractors had to undergo safety training, and the tunnels, which “experienced a lack of general housekeeping, including constant standing water and muck,” are suitable for work. (Construction Dive)

5) The Actors Company will present Chriskirkpatrickmas: A Boy Band Christmas Musical beginning December 1. Described as “a holiday-themed musical parody,” the friendly folks at 916 North Formosa Avenue will run the performance through December 11! (Chriskirkpatrickmas)
