💧 Water Crisis Poll! 💧
Residents are limited to watering their landscapes two days per week, before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m. What else should the City do to deal with the water crisis? Please let me know your thoughts! So far, 18.5% want to mandate drought-resistant landscaping, 20.7% want to recycle wastewater for irrigation, another 40.2% want to build a desalination plant at the coast, and 20.7% don’t believe residential water use contributes to the water crisis.

Here are the top five stories in Los Angeles today:

  1. Starbucks is done dealing with “challenging incidents.” The company said Tuesday that "after careful consideration, we are closing some stores in locations that have experienced a high volume of challenging incidents that make it unsafe to continue to operate, to open new locations with safer conditions." Los Angeles and neighboring areas will lose locations on Hollywood and Western, 1st and Los Angeles, 2nd and San Pedro and West Hollywood as well as Santa Monica locations. (Business Insider)
  2. In related news, Monday’s numbers reflect that “there were 181 homicides in the city of Los Angeles, the highest number in the past 15 years.” Last year, the city finished with a total of 397 murders. Additionally, the “report noted that killings tend to spike in the summer, with 48 homicides recorded in July of last year.” (ABC)
  3. SWAT arrived at a Boyle Heights address Tuesday to deal with a suspect in an attempted murder. It happened in the area of Lorena Street and Glenn Avenue at 8:30 a.m. SWAT succeeded in arresting the individual. (The Eastsider LA)
  4. On Monday, Yelp released its listing of the “top 100 places to eat in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.” Where do your neighbors like to eat? Broken Mouth in DTLA is a winner for its “Spam musubi and shrimp plate.” Another winner is Kermes Taco Grill in East L.A., where the “pollo con crema, taco de mole, (and) pollo adobado” are mentioned. (NBC)
  5. Is SkyVillage Hollywood at “a block south of Sunset Boulevard” a go? The developer filed the project application on July 7 for the “26-story, nearly 500-unit senior housing complex in Hollywood.” (The Real Deal)
