  1. Who sent a “package with suspicious writing” to the Los Angeles Fire Department station on the 4300 block of Vineland Avenue? The LAFD called the LAPD on Monday around 1:35 p.m. They brought a bomb robot and determined after around 5 p.m. that the package wasn’t dangerous. (CBS)
  2. We learned on Tuesday that L.A. has “has started construction on an $18.7-million revamp of 7th Street, which will add curb-protected bike lanes and other improvements in the Downtown area.” Fourteenth District Councilmember and mayoral hopeful Kevin de Leon was on hand for the ceremony. The upgrades will affect a mile of 7th Street “between Figueroa Street in the west and San Pedro Street in the east.” In addition to green-painted bike lanes, look for new litter bins, street trees with grates and consistent street lighting. (Urbanize)
  3. Will the DWP scandal derail LA City Attorney Mike Feuer’s career hopes? Currently running for mayor, Feuer “maintained he knew nothing of a variety of legal improprieties in the handling of the resulting DWP-billing-related lawsuits until early 2019.” However, he “was scheduled to participate in a December 2017 meeting that's been revealed as a key moment in the extortion prosecution of one of Feuer's former top deputies.” Feuer “acknowledged last week he probably attended this meeting.” (NBC)
  4. For freshly-minted Angelenos who haven’t been around for an earthquake, there was an earthquake simulator at Union Station on Tuesday. It was open “for those who'd like to test what it feels like to be in an earthquake ranging in size from magnitude 3.0 to 7.0.” (Fox 11)
  5. Did a Los Angeles food influencer behave badly? He is said to have reached out to a restaurant, asking “for $100 in dining credit in exchange for a review on his account.” The eatery declined to give him the discount, he went to eat there anyway, and wrote a review that claimed the food “tasted like ass.” The influencer says, “he would not intentionally leave a negative review after a restaurant declined to ‘work’ with him.” The restaurant says that “an intentionally bad write-up from a large following influencer because of our refusal to accept their collaboration is unprofessional.” (LA Eater)

This may surprise you, but it’s fine art.

Growing your nest egg with art isn’t new. Wealthy families like the Rockefellers have done it for centuries.

Here’s why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)

Translation: Art could be one of the best investments for uncertain times.

Luckily for you, we found Masterworks. This revolutionary platform lets you invest in art by Warhol, Monet, Picasso without spending millions.
