'Uber With Guns' Now Available As Protector App Launches In LA
Called Protector, it allows users to book armed guards and black car transportation through the app.

LOS ANGELES — A new app characterized as “Uber with guns” by an advisor who worked on the project became available this week in Los Angeles and New York.
Called Protector, it allows users to book armed guards and black car transportation through the app.
“Over the last few months, I’ve been advising @bookprotectors: a new app for ordering an on-demand security detail. Or more simply: Uber with guns,” tech advisor Nikita Bier said Monday in a post on X. “Today, they’re debuting in Los Angeles and NYC at No. 3 on the App Store.”

The app's protectors — who include a former Marine sniper and several SWAT officers — are credentialed active duty or retired law enforcement officers with emergency medical experience.
App users can book up to six protectors for as many as six protectees and can choose their protectors’ attire, which ranges from business formal to tactical casual. Users can also order up to three cars, all of which will be an “Escalade or similar vehicle,” according to the app.
