Waymo Attacked By Crowd During Street Takeover In Beverly Grove: Police
Callers told police between 50 and 100 people were involved in the takeover.
LOS ANGELES — A Waymo self-driving taxi was attacked over the weekend during a street takeover in the Beverly Grove neighborhood, according to police.
Law enforcement received several calls between 3:35 a.m. and 4 a.m. Saturday about the takeover at La Cienega Boulevard and West Third Street, police said, with callers reporting there were 50-100 people involved in the incident, which included vandalism of the self-driving car.
Video of the attack posted to the X account Los Angeles Scanner shows a large group standing in the middle of the street around a stopped Waymo with its hazard lights on. In the video a passenger door has been fully removed and the driver’s side window is partially shattered. The video shows one person standing on the roof of the car and people sitting in the driver’s seat.

When police arrived at the scene, everyone was gone, but officers completed a vandalism report and the case is being investigated by detectives, authorities said.
