Woman Shoots Armed Man Who Violated Restraining Order: Police
Authorities identified a 42-year-old man killed when he allegedly showed up at a woman's home intending to stab her, according to police.
MONROVIA, CA — A man violated his restraining order by approaching a Monrovia woman's home armed with knives, prompting her to shoot and kill him, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department announced this week.
On Monday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified 42-year-old Thanh Cong Le as the man shot and killed late Friday night at a home in the 400 block of South Shamrock Avenue.
The shooting occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Friday. Officers from the Monrovia Police Department responded to the scene after a woman phoned dispatchers saying a man with a restraining order was at her home and armed with a knife.

The man was dead by the time police arrived.
“(The man) went to the residence armed with knives, attempted to stab the white female adult and white male adult, and to stop the threat the white female adult discharged a firearm,” the sheriff’s department announced in a written statement. “ The female adult and male adult provided voluntary statements and were not arrested.”

A firearm and several knives were found at the scene, according to police.
