Wrong-Way Drunken Driver Killed In 5 Freeway Crash: CHP
A drunken driver was killed while driving the wrong way on the 5 Freeway Sunday morning.
BURBANK, CA — A wrong-way driver allegedly driving drunk was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Sunday morning on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Burbank, authorities said.
The crash occurred at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday on the northbound freeway at Alameda Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatality was confirmed by the Los Angeles Fire Department at 3:57 a.m., the CHP said.
A vehicle was traveling northbound in the number one lane when it hit the wrong-way motorist's vehicle, which was going southbound, authorities said. Another vehicle crashed into the vehicle that had initially struck the wrong- way vehicle, and that vehicle landed on its roof.

"After the crash, all vehicles remained on scene," CHP Officer Shanelle Phillips said. "Party #1 (wrong-way motorist) was later located within vehicle #1 deceased. Alcohol is considered to be a factor to this crash."
A Sigalert issued at 4:28 a.m. closing all northbound lanes of the freeway at Alameda Avenue was canceled at 8:46 a.m.
