LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating a Sunset Boulevard battery that reportedly involved the rapper Ye also known as Kanye West.

A spokesperson for Ye claims the rapper was defending his wife who had been sexually battered, but the man who called police claimed to be a victim who had been punched in the face repeatedly by Ye, according to, NBC News.

The incident took place at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 82000 block of Sunset Boulevard, said LAPD Officer Tony Im. The LAPD would not confirm to Patch which party is being investigated as the battery suspect.

Milo Yiannopoulos, chief of staff at Ye's clothing and apparel company, Yeezy, told NBC News Censori, was "physically assaulted."

"The assailant didn’t merely collide into her. He put his hands under her dress, directly on her body, he grabbed her waist, he spun her around, and then he blew her kisses," Yiannopoulos told NBC News. "She was battered and sexually assaulted."

Ye has been the target of battery allegations and investigations before.

Most recently, Ye was investigated in 2022 after an altercation with a fan outside the exclusive SoHo Warehouse in downtown Los Angeles. Ultimately, prosecutors declined to file charges.

In that case, a fan told police the rapper struck him after he asked for an autograph at about 3 a.m. one January morning outside the Downtown Los Angeles club at Santa Fe Avenue and Bay Street. No arrests were reported, and no other details were released. Ye was gone by the time police arrived.

After police referred the investigation for prosecution, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office announced, "After a thorough and careful review of all the evidence, our office is declining to file based on no reasonable likelihood of conviction."
