I love spending a few days in Glasgow. I would fly in direct from the U.S, or take the train from London, lovely 5 hour journey thru the nicest countryside. Apart from 70 parks and gardens, it has over 776 bars and pubs, 30 nightclubs and 51 cinema screens. The Scottish Opera, and Royal Scottish National Orchestra are world renowned. The shopping is wonderful, go to the giant Buchanan Galleries complex, and culture vultures will be spoiled for choice with over 20 museums and art galleries (almost all free) including the internationally acclaimed Burrell Collection and the hip happening Gallery of Modern Art. Barcelona has Gaudi, but Glasgow has the art nouveau magic of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Glasgow was named U.K. City of Architecture & Design in 1999.
There are some excellent hotels, and lots of great restaurants in all price ranges. Recommend you take the double decked red bus for a city tour. It is an easy city to walk around and of course, you should carry a brolly. (umbrella)
There are several excellent bus companies , you should take a day trip to perhaps Loch Lomond, Inverness, or Edinburgh.

You can't go wrong having dinner in a pub, smoked salmon, or fish and chips are my first choice and of course, a shandy. Half beer and half lemonade.
