New leadership for Kaiser Permanente’s Greater San Jose Area
Dr. Meena Pai named physician in chief leads 600 physicians at several facilities

Meena Pai, MD, is the new physician in chief of the Kaiser Permanente Greater San Jose Area. She will lead and oversee the physicians and clinical care delivery operations that serve patients and members in San Jose, Gilroy, and Santa Cruz.
Pai, a pediatrician, joined Kaiser Permanente San Jose in 1996. She has held numerous leadership positions and was most recently the assistant physician in chief over risk, patient safety, compliance and quality. She was also instrumental in leading the COVID-19 response team responsible for the delivery of vaccinations.
“We have an amazing team of physicians and clinical specialists in the greater San Jose area who focus on doing the right thing for our patients and members every day,” Pai said. “I am committed to advancing our mission to increase access to care in the local communities we serve as we focus on providing high-quality, safe care to everyone we serve.”

Pai was born and raised in India, obtaining her medical degree and training from the University of Rajasthan School of Medicine. She subsequently completed a pediatric residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is board certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Pai follows Efren Rosas, MD, as physician in chief. Rosas, a general surgeon at Kaiser Permanente San Jose, held the role since 2018 and will return to practicing surgery.
