• Los Altos police getting drones (padailypost.com) — Los Altos police will soon deploy two new remotely operated drones under a five-year, $570,000 contract the city council unanimously approved with Axon Enterprise. The drones will be used several times a day for tasks like surveying crashes and high‑risk operations, raising both cybersecurity confidence and airspace safety questions from councilmembers and residents. Installation is expected within two to three months.

• Sheriff's Office looking for additional local mail theft victims (losaltosonline.com) — Los Altos residents are being urged to take extra care with outgoing mail after deputies found over 100 stolen checks and letters tied to blue collection boxes and local mailboxes, including downtown Los Altos. Thirteen victims from Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View have been identified so far, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.

• How a rare drug made from scientists' blood plasma saves babies from botulism (lockhaven.com) — A Los Altos scientist, Nancy Shine, is among a small group of volunteers whose blood plasma helps create BabyBIG, the only treatment for life‑threatening infant botulism. Her decades of donations support a California program that has saved thousands of babies worldwide, including infants sickened in a recent formula‑linked outbreak.
