• Los Altos' GreenTown hosts creek and highway cleanups (losaltosonline.com) — Los Altos’ own GreenTown is organizing regular creek and highway cleanups, focusing on Adobe Creek, the Permanente Creek Diversion Canal, and the I-280 ramps at Magdalena Road. Volunteers, many of them local students, help remove everything from tennis balls to odd roadside junk, with more cleanup events expected this spring and easy signups through GreenTown’s website. 
• Los Altos police warn of check forgeries (losaltosonline.com) — Los Altos police are warning residents about a spike in stolen and altered checks, often taken from unsecured mail and chemically washed before being cashed. Officers urge residents to use secure USPS locations, monitor accounts closely, write checks with gel pens, and promptly report any suspicious financial activity or missing checks to both their bank and the Los Altos Police Department.
• Speiser elected vice president of board of education (losaltosonline.com) — Leadership at the Santa Clara County Board of Education just shifted, with Los Altos–area trustee Jessica Speiser elected vice president and former vice president Victoria Chon named president. Speiser, a past Los Altos School District board president, now helps oversee key districts serving Los Altos, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale and surrounding communities.
