You will have wonderful lectures on board, and this is an outstanding opportunity to visit this off the beaten track part of the world.

I would stay in Cairns for a few days at the end of the trip. I recommend taking the Kuranda Scenic Railway up to the rainforest, and come back by the Skyrail Cableway. Go see the Tjapukai aborginal show when you get off the cableway. Cairns is the world's best place for deep sea fishing, and the night market is a mixture of a thousand nationalities, crafts and food.
