Los Gatos Weekender: Dance Party, Halloween Fun, Art Exhibits

Don't forget to drop off your unused or expired medication for safe disposal during the LGMSPD's prescription drug disposal and recycling event at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Los Gatos Parks and Public Works Service Center.

DANCE PARTY WITH THE 10TH AVENUE BAND

Los Gatos Recreation 55-Plus program invites the community to its Dance Party with the 10th Avenue Band 7-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at the Los Gatos Adult Recreation Center, 208 E. Main St. Come dance, listen and socialize the fourth Friday of every month in the center's large hall. It's a fun evening of live music compliments of The 10th Avenue Band. Light refreshments and door prizes at every dance. Music styles include jazz, big band and wing. Details: 408-354-1514.

CIRQUE DU SANGUINE AT LEIGH HIGH SCHOOL

The Leigh High School Theatre Arts Department presents the fourth annual Cirque du Sanguine Haunted House 7-9:30 p.m. Oct. 24-26 and 2:15 and 3-5 p.m. Oct. 28 and at 7-9:30 p.m.. MAGNOLIA GARDEN PUMPKIN CARVING/DECORATING BENEFIT FOR SCHOOLS

Los Gatos Patch contributor and blogger Jennifer Croll, owner of Little Black Dress in downtown Los Gatos, is hosting her second annual Magnolia Garden pumpkin carving and decorating fundraising event this week through Oct. 28.
Croll has set up the stage for the event on the back of her store, 34 No. Santa Cruz Ave., so anyone in the community can decorate the pumpkins for $25.
The pumpkins are donated by Bunches Flowers and all proceeds benefit the New Millennium and the Los Gatos Education foundations, which help Los Gatos High School and the Los Gatos Union School District schools, respectively.
Reservations are required by calling 408-843-6133. Event hours are 3-5 p.m. Oct. 22-25 and Oct. 28 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 26-27.

WINCHESTER MYSTERY HOUSE 'FLASHLIGHT TOURS'

A maze of 160 rooms and complicated and intricate thrilling passageways have returned to the Winchester Mystery House, at 6:30 p.m.-midnight next weekend Oct. 25-27 and Oct. 31, 525 So. DISTURBIA HALLOWEEN BASH AT LOS GATOS LODGE

Something "disturbing" is about to take place in Los Gatos ... But don't be alarmed, it's the inaugural Disturbia Halloween Bash presented by the Los Gatos Lodge 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at 50 Los Gatos-Saratoga Rd. The event will be staged in three private rooms with a capacity for 500-plus people, featuring live music entertainment by Sabrina Signs & Lenny Ruckus, DJ Yoni Wunderman and The Ruckus Band. GOBLYN'S GLEN AND WICKED WOODS AT OAK MEADOW PARK

Goblyn's Glen and Wicked Woods have returned to Los Gatos this year to continue to scare young and old in celebration of Halloween 2013. Both events continue every weekend 7-8.30 p.m. 24-27 and until Halloween Eve and Halloween night Oct. 30-31 at Oak Meadow Park, 233 Blossom Hill Rd. Groups are limited to four people. GOT OLD MEDICATIONS? GOT RECYCLING?

The Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department, West Valley Clean Water Program and Community Against Substance Abuse host a prescription drug disposal drop-off and recycling event at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Los Gatos Parks and Public Works Service Center, 41 Miles Ave. Non-residents of Los Gatos and Monte Sereno are also welcome. Sharps, such as needles, will not be accepted. Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal. Recycle your old glass thermometers, cell phones, and eyeglasses. BACKWARD IS FORWARD EXHIBIT AT LOS GATOS ART MUSEUM

The Museums of Los Gatos presents Backward is Forward: Layer and Impact in Printmaking exhibit through Jan. 12, 2014 at the Art Museum of Los Gatos, 4 Tait Ave. The show features prints by Enrique Chagoya, Hung Liu, Sam Francis, David Gilhooly, Gregory Edwards, Michael Mazur, Frank Lobdell, Andrew Romanoff, Inez Storer, Nathan Oliveira, Erik Bakke, Joan Miro, Marguerite Saegesser, Ruth Wall, Kathy Aoki, Vicky M. Chen, Tom Killion, Jessica Dunne, and Robin McCloskey. Artists have been using printmaking processes for centuries to create thought-provoking works of art, however the details of the medium are often a mystery to viewers. Details: 408-395-7386,

'AMERICAN BOHEMIA: THE CATS ESTATE IN LOS GATOS' EXHIBIT AT HISTORY MUSEUM

The History Museum of Los Gatos at Forbes Mill, 75 Church St., presents a new exhibit called "American Bohemia: The Cats Estate in Los Gatos" noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday beginning Saturday, Oct. 19. The exhibit's opening reception is at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at the museum, with the film screening of C.E.S. Wood. following at 5:30 p.m. at the former Los Gatos Library, 110 E. Main St. The film is an Oregon Public Broadcasting documentary produced by Oregon filmmakers John deGraaf and Laurence Cotton. Details: 408-395-7375
