Missing Child Described As Runaway Located In South Bay: CHP

The girl, who had been last seen leaving her home on a bike Wednesday night, was found Thursday morning.

SAN JOSE, CA — A missing girl who police said ran away from her home in the South Bay was located Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The child had been last seen leaving her San Jose home on a bike Wednesday night. She was wearing a black hoodie and black shorts and was riding a purple mountain bike with flowers and butterflies.

South Bay residents received an emergency alert on their phones just after 9 a.m. Thursday morning. A tracking canine from the Governor's Office of Emergency Services is assisted in the search.

Just before 10 a.m., the CHP tweeted that the girl had been found.

Police did not believe she was abducted because she stated that she was running away.
