Detectives believe a driver intentionally hit a pedestrian, causing fatal injuries, before fleeing the scene Wednesday evening.
SAN JOSE, CA — Detectives in San Jose are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian Wednesday evening in what police have classified as the city's first homicide case of the year.
In a news release, the department said officers arrived near the intersection of Descanso Drive and North First Street shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday. First responders found a man with life-threatening injuries who was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts to save him.
Investigators said preliminary evidence suggested the crash was an "intentional act," and the unidentified driver fled before officers arrived. The motive and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
