Tasting House Introduces Elegant Afternoon Tea Service

LOS GATOS, CA — Tasting House, the award-winning wine bistro and Champagne bar, has unveiled its new afternoon tea experience, offering an elegant yet approachable take on the beloved tradition.

The service is available every Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Traditional Afternoon Tea service, priced at $75 per person, features a curated selection of teas from Mariage Frères of Paris, complemented by a three-tiered presentation of savory bites and sweets. The menu includes Scandinavian-inspired open-faced sandwiches, house-made scones with clotted cream and Haskap berry jam, and assorted confections from renowned local French chocolatier Fleur De Cocoa. Guests can enhance their experience with optional caviar service and Champagne by the glass, bottle, or flight.

Tasting House’s commitment to authenticity extends to the presentation, with cast iron tea pots sourced from Mariage Frères and fine bone china from Rosenthal’s Brillance Fleurs Sauvages collection. A live pianist playing jazz and swing standards adds to the refined yet convivial atmosphere.

The inspiration for the new offering came from a shared passion between Tasting House Founder and Proprietor Denise Thornberry and Executive Chef Julian Silvera.

“I have been immensely fortunate to experience afternoon tea across the world,” said Thornberry. “It has always provided this unique, innately leisurely, and social experience that lends itself to genuine interpersonal connection.”

Chef Silvera echoed the sentiment, noting how the concept naturally evolved from his in-house bread and pastry creations. “Guests were really connecting with the tea we served at the end of our Chef’s Tasting Menu. When Denise suggested we expand on it, the idea just clicked.”

To ensure an exceptional guest experience, several Tasting House captains and managers have become certified Tea Sommeliers in preparation for the launch.
