VTA Resumes Light Rail Service In Limited Capacity

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority resumed limited light rail service this week for the first time since a mass shooting at a light rail yard in May.
No fares will be collected on the light rail until September 12, according to a blog post.
The Orange Line, which runs between Mountain View and Alum Rock, will operate from 5:30 a.m. to midnight every 20 minutes. Beginning at 8 p.m. service will run every 30 minutes.

The Green Line, which runs between the Civic Center and Old Ironsides, will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every 20 minutes. Beginning at 8 p.m. service will run every 30 minutes.
A bus bridge will service First Street from Paseo de San Antonio to Baypointe and onto Milpitas Transit Center/Bart Station from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. every 30 minutes.

Green and Blue Line service will return in phases, according to VTA.
“As we continue to bring back employees safely and compassionately, we will update the public on the level of light rail service we can safely continue to provide,” the transit agency said. “We appreciate the patience of our riding community and will continue to provide updates as service expands.”
