• Person Found Dead Following Structure Fire in Lucerne Valley; Bomb Squad Requested (vvng.com) — A Lucerne Valley home on North Side Road caught fire Monday afternoon, and firefighters later found one person dead inside after bomb squad experts cleared possible explosive hazards. County Fire fought the blaze defensively for hours and is still investigating the cause, while the victim’s identity has not yet been released. 
• Plot To Bomb Companies Across SoCal On New Year's Eve Thwarted In IE Desert: Feds (patch.com) — Federal agents say they arrested four suspects in Lucerne Valley while the group allegedly tested explosives and rehearsed a New Year’s Eve bombing plot targeting multiple Southern California sites. Authorities describe the suspects as part of a radical, anti-government organization and credit close coordination with San Bernardino County deputies for stopping the plan.
