Groundbreaking Ceremony Set For Malibu Skatepark
The skate park, located near Malibu Bluffs Park, is expected to open in the fall.
MALIBU, CA — The city will hold a groundbreaking ceremony April 11 as construction of the long-awaited permanent skate park gets underway.
All are invited to the ceremony, which is set for Friday, April 11 at noon at 24250 Pacific Coast Highway. City leaders are set to speak about the project and the event will be catered by Jennifer Naylor Catering and Events.

The 12,500 square-foot skate park will feature stairs, rails, ledges, banks, a flow bowl, quarter pipes, spine, extensions and waterfalls, with features available for skaters of all skill levels, according to the city.

The design, guided by extensive public input collected in 2020 and 2021, was overseen by California Skateparks, a firm specializing in the design and construction of skateparks and action sports facilities. C.S. Legacy Construction will begin building the facility this month after the City Council recently approved $4.1 million for its construction.

The temporary stake park at Bluffs Park will remain open until the permanent facility opens.
The new skate park is yet to be named: City staff are expected to present proposals to the City Council in the coming months.
