Malibu City Staffers Spread Holiday Cheer with Homeless Care Packages

MALIBU, CA -- Malibu city staffers spread some holiday cheer this week by assembling care packages for the homeless in the city, the Malibu Times reported.
The staff donated their time and money, with some monetary contributions from local businesses, and assembled 60 care packages for the homeless.
The packages contain socks, toiletries, snacks, a small blanket and other essentials. They also contain information about the county's daily shuttle to and from Malibu and the West Los Angeles winter shelter, which offers a place to sleep, eat and shower.

The idea started when a city contractor donated $500 toward a community charitable effort. That donation was matched by local developer and city staff pitched in the rest, according to the Malibu Times.
