MALIBU, CA — The new Malibu High School building is expected to open ahead of schedule, just in time for the 2025-26 school year, district officials announced Tuesday.

The 70,000-square-foot building will include classrooms, food services, library and administrative space. It's set to open in August, five months ahead of schedule, according to the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.

"Planning for this new building began just days before the Woolsey Fire, and through all the challenges we've faced in Malibu, our teams and contractors have remained steadfast in moving this important project forward,” Superintendent Antonio Shelton said. “The new building is a forward-thinking educational space designed to challenge, inspire, and engage today's students, preparing them for the opportunities of tomorrow. Thanks to the community's support through bond funding, we are proud to see this facility taking shape for our future-ready learners.”
