Student Artists Shine in Malibu

Students from Juan Cabrillo Elementary put their paintings, drawings, paper mache and ceramic sculptures on display last week in Malibu.

The artwork, which was from the entire school year, was set out for the open house Thursday, May 16 at the school.

The school's fifth graders took part in the "Art & Sole" mixed media project, which had students create shoe-based sculptures based on their hopes, aspirations and fears about entering middle school.

Large paintings that were created with every Juan Cabrillo student and visiting artist Cindy Short, were auctioned during the show with all the proceeds funding Juan Cabrillo's art program.
