MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from a person who nominated Krista Skinner of Manhattan Beach. They volunteer with Skinner and admire the effort she puts into organizing soccer games for thousands of kids.

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
Krista organizes soccer games for 3,000+ kids two times a year. This includes coaches, fields, equipment, uniforms, regular season games and playoffs. She also organizes extra training to give the kids a better soccer experience. AYSO is a great community that focuses on kids and is such a gift to new and returning families.
