📰 News we're reading

• Manhattan Beach To Consider Temporarily Allowing Short-Term Rentals Citywide (patch.com) — Manhattan Beach officials are weighing whether to temporarily allow short-term rentals citywide during the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympics, and they’re asking residents to weigh in at Tuesday’s 6 p.m. council meeting. Currently, rentals are only allowed in the coastal zone after a court ruling limited the city’s broader 2015 ban, which many neighbors originally supported over concerns about traffic, parking, noise, and crime.

• Bloody Animal Footprints Alarm East Manhattan Beach Residents (thembnews.com) — Bloody animal footprints, likely from a coyote, were found Monday morning across several blocks in East Manhattan Beach, rattling dog-walkers and neighbors. City officials are urging residents to avoid coyotes, secure pets, and report sightings to Manhattan Beach Animal Control while staying alert for any unusual wildlife behavior.
