Manhattan Beach: Beach Water Advisory Extended; More Rain On Way
The Beach Water Use Advisory in LA County has been extended. The ocean is likely to be contaminated by bacteria, chemicals, debris, trash.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The Beach Water Use Advisory has been extended until tonight at 11:45 p.m. due to the recent rainfall, according to Los Angeles County Health Officer, Muntu Davis, MD, MPH. Anyone considering entering the water is advised that bacteria, chemicals, debris, trash, and other public health hazards from city streets and mountain areas are likely to have contaminated ocean waters at and around discharging storm drains, creeks, and rivers after rain flushed items in the drains through to the ocean. People who do enter the water in these areas could become ill, according to Dr. Davis.
The advisory may be extended depending on further rainfall, which is expected to hit Manhattan Beach tomorrow afternoon.
Recorded information on beach conditions is available 24 hours a day on the County's beach closure hotline: 1-800-525-5662. Information is also available online at PublicHealth.LACounty.gov/Beach/.
