MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The Manhattan Beach Fire Department selected Christian McArthur as the 2018 Firefighter of the Year, MBFD announced last week.

McArthur's dedication to residents and the fire department has been "unequal," MBFD said. He has embodied the personality and traits of a model MBFD Firefighter/Paramedic since he was hired on November 7, 2011, the press release said.

"As a second generation firefighter, Christian consistently displays selfless traits and maintains a great attitude. Whether large or small, Christian is eager to volunteer for any task," MBFD said. "Christian is dependable and earns the respect of his peers through his strong work ethic, positive demeanor and kind nature."
