Neptunian Woman's Club Needs Help To Raise Funds For Scholarships
Your donation for the Walk 4 Scholars will be used to fund scholarships awarded to deserving students in Manhattan Beach.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The Neptunian Woman's Club in Manhattan Beach is getting ready to hold its final fundraising event of the year and they need your help. The organization's first Walk 4 Scholars walkathon will be held on May 8th to raise money for scholarships to be awarded to deserving students at Mira Costa High School and El Camino College, the local junior college.
Participants are welcome to join an in-person walk on May 8th or do the walk virtually at any time from May 7-9 that weekend.
"This has been a difficult year for many families," scholarship committee member Mary Dillon told Patch. "There are many who never thought they'd be in dire need of money for education. That is why we do this."

You can also donate at any level and walk, run, or bike on your own.
All donations will go toward their annual scholarships and donations are tax deductible.
Neptunian scholarship awards are determined by a scholarship committee that reads the scholarship notebooks the students provide to the MCHS College and Career Center in the spring, according to Kathie Nichols, vice president of philanthropy for the Neptunians.
In addition to transcripts, school participation, community service, and leadership experience information, the student writes a 500-word essay to a prompt asking what receiving a scholarship from Neptunians would mean to them.
The Neptunian Woman's Club holds various fundraising events throughout the year, including a pet photo contest, the Love of Learning drive, and a wine tasting event.
