• Iconic Eatery Abruptly Closes All CA Locations (patch.com) — Manhattan Beach residents have lost their local Sprinkles cupcake shop as the chain abruptly shut down all 20 locations nationwide, including nine in California. The closure, which also ended its cupcake ATMs, took effect on New Year’s Eve, and even the company’s social media accounts have gone dark, leaving fans with more questions than answers. 
• GAME DAY: U.S. Opens U18 Women's Worlds Against Slovakia (usahockey.com) — Team USA opens the 2026 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship today against Slovakia, and Manhattan Beach’s own Morgan Stickney is among the returning players. The U.S. brings back 10 skaters from last year’s silver-medal squad, hoping their experience and leadership will set the tone in the preliminary round.
