Redondo Beach Woman Seriously Wounded in San Bernardino Shooting Wednesday
A 2011 graduate of Redondo Union High calls and texts family to say she's been shot. Her family is on edge for hours after those messages.
“Mom, I’m at work. I’ve been shot.”
Those were the terrifying words Lisa Stevens heard in a voicemail from her 22-year-old daughter Jennifer Stevens just minutes after going down with a shot to her abdomen during Wednesday morning’s shooting at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino.
The injured Jennifer also managed to text her sister the news, according to the Daily Breeze.

Later that same night, Lisa had a chance to update friends on Facebook:
“So yes, I am home briefly to change and go back to hospital to be with Jen. It has been a horrendous day, but to each and every one of you who reached out and sent positive thoughts and prayers, thank you. We are so lucky to have such amazing family and friends. Prayers work! I want to give a moment to those families who did not get the news their loved one would be home with them again..my deepest condolences and love. Deepest gratitude that Jen survived and is here with us to hopeful be able to stretch her oh so painful abdomen enough to put the star on the top of our Christmas tree as she has for so many years. Thank you....”
On Wednesday, after being shot in the rampage, Jennifer underwent emergency surgery and is reported to be in stable condition, according to Hollywood Life, and to make a a full recovery.
According to The San Bernardino Sun, Jennifer, who had recently received a degree in environmental science at UC Riverside, had just started working as an environmental technician for the San Bernardino County Environmental Services Department.
That job put her at the holiday party where th shooting took place Wednesday.
On Thursday, her mom Lisa posted another update:
“Thank you all for your prayers. Today her pain is intolerable. I imagine that there are others just like her. Prayers today for Jen’s relief of physical pain. Praying for all the other families and victims. This is just a nightmare.”
