MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From Jan. 9 to 15 there were:

  • 665 calls for service
  • 12 arrests
  • 8 traffic collisions
  • 41 crime reports taken

  • Sometime between Jan. 11 and Jan. 13 two suspects broke into the Beach Cities Learning Center in the 1500 block of North Peck Avenue, according to MBPD. School officials told police that they detected a pornographic video site was visited on a school computer. Video surveillance from the school showed two suspected jumping over the front fence and going into a classroom from an unlocked window. A school official recognized the two boys as a 17-year-old current student and a former student who was expelled in November 2024. No additional information was available.
  • On Jan. 10, a resident reported a residential burglary in the 1400 block of 5th Street. The resident left their home at around 3 p.m. and when they arrived home at about 6:30 p.m. they saw both side gates were open and their son's bedroom was locked. The resident's surveillance video showed two suspects placing a ladder under the balcony while another suspect angled the camera down to avoid being recorded. The suspect vehicle was seen reversing directly in front of the driveway when four suspects got inside. The resident reported that watches, jewelry and cash were stolen.
